The first step in our process is to determine what you can, and cannot, physically do. Our screen can be broken down into five parts: Mobility, Strength, Power, The Kinematic Sequence, The Kinetic Sequence.
Step one of our screen involves a mobility screen to determine how your body moves in and out of different positions. We will conduct a TPI level 1 screen to identify any limitations in your bodies mobility and stability in different ranges of motions.
Any limitations in your bodies ability to move through the golf swing can impact not only your ability to swing the club, but may also lead to injuries or increased stress on other joints.
Remember, your body will always look to move through an area of least resistance. If one joint is immobile, your body will look elsewhere to make up for that lack of mobility.
Step two of our screen will be a strength screen. We will conduct a TPI Fitness Level 2 screen to identify your base strength in both your lower body, core, and upper body.
Strength acts as the foundation on which your stability and power is built. Strength in your lower body and core is what helps you maintain posture through the swing, and what helps you hit out of the rough.
Strength is also the base for power and speed training. Trying to increase your speed without a proper foundation of strength is what leads to injury. Balancing strength and speed is how to efficiently and safely increase power.
Step three of our screening process will be a TPI Power Level 3 screen. Power, and ultimately distance, is calculated as strength x speed. If you are strong but slow, you will not generate power. If you are weak but fast, you will not generate power.
Marrying the two together is ultimately what will increase your distance both off the tee and with your irons.
In step four of our screening process we will utilize k-vest 3D motion capture technology to learn more about what you are doing in your swing. This technology will map out the movement pattern, and speed generation, of your pelvis, torso, arms and hands during your swing.
While there are many different ways to swing a club, the kinematic sequence and speed are relatively constant among the best players in the world and we will be able to benchmark your data against that of a tour pro.
In step 5 of our evaluation we will utilize Smart2Move 3D Force Plates to measure your ground reaction forces. All movements and forces in your golf swing start from the ground up.
Smart2Move 3d force plates will measure each foots force, pressure, and point of pressure into the ground. This data allows us to understanding the forces, and torques, you create using the ground. Vertical Force, lateral force, AP (anterior-posterior) forces, as well as vertical torque are all measured and analyzed using force plates.
Understanding how you utilize the ground to create these forces is critical in understanding how you create power in your swing.
